Anuk Schmelcher: something else
Da ich einen Teil des Albums unter anderem auch in Loco komponiert habe, schicke ich dir hier sehr gerne den Link zu meinem neu erschienenen Album. (Du stehst auch in den special thanks 🙂 ) (17.12.2025)

Jeremy Ratib: Backlot Country (vinyl) "... Thanks again for this inspiring couple of days in your magical residency in Loco. I will treasure these moments that set the first stones for the album in front of you. Maybe you will recognize some of the first ideas we listened together..." (autumn 2025)

Call A Friend Project “You’re part of a big movement now to make things better. You can be proud of that. You can look at the stars and think here we are in our little bit of space, and I’m on the side of the people who are putting things right, and your soul will expand right into the sky.“ This is a quote from the project we have been working on together with our dearest friends and the amazingly talented artists and musicians @simone_keller_ @philip_bartels_ @oxundoel_produktionen, and the words in this quote sound very optimistic and one can be proud of that. However in reality, the play depicts the opposite, the world is going in the wrong direction. We find many parallels. And we can’t be distant. The day before Johannes Rühl, the founder of the beautiful Casa di Rosa residence @villarosaloco showed us the Zukunftsmusik Project - a box of commissioned music for the future, asking (or answering?) the question how the world will be sound in 100 years? The original documents are stored sealed in the Swiss National Sound Archives in Lugano for a century. The musical scores in the box will be played in 2123 year only, for the audience to be born, far far away from today. Can you imagine this world? Working together on the essential and sincere topics, doing field research, learning from nature, finding differences and similarities in languages, listening to and knowing more about the music, cooking polenta (not to forget about zucchini), co-creating a future narrative for the audience and bringing these ideas to light in this unbelievable beautiful place @villarosaloco in the Onsernone valley, Ticino - it feels surreal and fantastic. Thank you so much dear friends and @villarosaloco to make this happen. We have been learning from you since the first meeting and continue to do so. More soon✨ Oksana Yushko

Tracing Basalt
Southern Alpine Valley, Texts, Field Recordings
The project traces the life and work of Basalt (1910–?)—a geologist and queer figure from Berlin who fled the Nazis. They finally settled in a remote valley in Ticino (Switzerland) in the 1950s, where they formed deep ties with the stones, plants, and animals and developed early theories of acoustic ecology, preserved in aphoristic notes. The audiovisual project translates Basalt’s writings into a contemporary practice of listening in the Onsernone Valley—presented as a documentary field recording album and an audiovisual live performance.
Project developed an produced during residencies at Casadirosa in Loco, Ticino, Released at Vertical Music and forms of minutiae (CD + Booklet)
Premiered at Eventi Letterari Monte Verità 2025

Isabel Mundry: composition Niva Engramme (2023)
Isabel Mundry chose the culturally and historically significant chapel of the Oratorio Giovanni Nepumoceno in Niva (Loco/Onsernone) for her new piece Niva-Engramme, which is based on a motet by Claudio Monteverdi, she translated for viola and fragmented in dialogue with the location. Mundry chose the chapel and its inscription as a fascinating place where a visionary brought together different cultures and religions in the remote Ticino valley. A vision that seems more contemporary to her than the – albeit appealing – escape from civilization offered by Monte Verità, as Isabel Mundry explains in an interview for the neoblog. "So much sweat, a few tears, but also lots of laughs went into making this audio work and we're still very grateful for the opportunity to make some substantial steps during our stay at Casa di Rosa."

Anuk Schmelcher … I (with the help of many other people) took a Farfisa organ with me, which was placed in my bedroom and allowed me to dive into the overtones at anytime. After the first weeks I got the keys to the church of the village, where I could experiment with the organ during my stay in Loco. Next to the church lived two elderly women. One of them came by several times together with her cat, to listen to the drones. Being surrounded by the growing mountains, little creeks and many sounding creatures, who became all part of the music.
